Let's Talk Movies + Movie of the Month

About this event

Let's get together to talk about movies. Our first round of discussion will be Talk about a Movie. Choose any movie that you would like to talk about and start sharing your thoughts. Everybody will get a turn. It can be a great discussion and a way to build up your watchlist. Our second round of discussion will be about the movie Port of Shadows. We are celebrating Noirvember, and Port of Shadows is an early French noir film. Like all of our 2026 films, it is streaming on Kanopy. It is also streaming on Hoopla. Both services are available for free with most library cards. Port of Shadows (1938) follows Jean, an army deserter seeking a new life in the foggy port of Le Havre, where chance encounters and doomed romance lead him into a world of melancholy and fatalism. A quintessential work of French poetic realism, it’s lauded for its moody visuals, Jean Gabin’s iconic performance, and Jacques Prévert’s lyrical dialogue. Dark, atmospheric, and haunting, it’s essential viewing for classic cinema and film noir fans. PORT OF SHADOWS - 4K Restoration Trailer We look forward to meeting you and talking movies with you.
