- ➤ Hamilton County corrections officer Hannah Cline received the Medal of Merit on Thursday for her care of Cadiz police officer Doug Barker, who was injured in a crash on Nov. 2. Barker, now on light duty while recovering, expressed deep thanks for her timely help. WTHR
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Indiana native Cody Aiello, coordinator at IU Indianapolis, appeared on Jeopardy! Thursday by earning $17,930 and advancing to the final round; he will defend his title Friday at 7:30 p.m. on WTHR Channel 13 (his debut marks 16 years since his twin brother Todd was on the show). WTHR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Starting July 1, a new Indiana law signed by Gov. Mike Braun will stop insurance companies from requiring cancer patients to try a cheaper drug before covering the one recommended by their doctor. The law has received strong bipartisan support — it gives providers more say so patients can focus on treatment. WTHR
- ➤ On March 4, Meta and others signed a pledge to cover the electricity needed for new data center projects, including one at a Google campus in Monrovia. Neighbor Chris Lamberson worries rising rates could hurt local residents, and lawmakers have proposed bills to improve oversight (none have had hearings). WTHR

- ➤ Rajan and Janice Bhavnani opened the first Indiana Degree Wellness location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 21 with Carmel Mayor Sue Finkam (at 1685 E. 116th St., Suite 130 in Carmel) where the center offers cryotherapy, an infrared sauna, compression massage and a cold plunge. Current
- ➤ Hamilton County Health Department warns that rising nationwide measles cases could affect local travelers heading to spring break and advises residents to check their vaccination records to protect themselves against the contagious disease (group settings may increase exposure). WRTV

- ➤ Greenwood native Brayton Laster will race part-time in nine ARCA events for Wayne Peterson Motorsports and Clubb Racing Inc., beginning at Kansas Speedway on Apr. 18. He will also run at Indianapolis Raceway Park on July 24 and Salem Speedway on Sept. 12, and may add races as the season progresses. WTHR
