- ➤ Indy Community Farms was founded in 2024 by long-serving Carmel Fire Department captain Chad Hughes and businesswoman Krista Hughes to boost sustainable agriculture and local food access in Hamilton County. The nonprofit offers garden plots at $1 a day, hosts educational programs, and is upgrading its property with an improved water supply and a removable walkway—future plans include greenhouses, a farmers market and a small poultry project.
