Today three Carmel firefighters—Joseph Box, Ronald Powers, and Corey Richards—graduated from paramedic school and are now Nationally Registered EMT-Paramedics ready to serve on Carmel Fire Department ambulances.

Their rigorous training covered over 1,380 hours of classroom and field work, and Fire Chief EMS Andrew Young praised their effort.

Advancement coordinator Amanda Klotsch—of Carmel Youth Assistance Program—said the Design Bright Futures gala will be held from 5 to 11 p.m. on April 26 at Ritz Charles as the program aims to raise $100,000 amid a nearly 10 percent drop in charitable giving.

The event, celebrating 10 years of service, will include dinner, dancing, a silent auction and a Dessert Dash that once raised over $30,000 in five minutes.
