  • Swan Software Solutions, a Carmel-based IT services company, celebrates 20 years in business; founded by Alex Morozov in 2005, it now employs over 200 people, serves 3,000 clients and operates six European offices — it will hold a private celebration at an art gallery this summer.  Current

CULTURE NEWS

  • Two best friends who met in the 1940s have exchanged the same birthday card every year for nearly 80 years; the card shows a cartoon dog with a red and black bow tie and a funny dinosaur message. Mary Kroger — who lives in Carmel — and her friend Pat DeReamer said they will keep the tradition going and recently applied to reclaim a Guinness World Record for the longest greetings card exchange.  WTHR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Hamilton County officials are offering residents $400 to remove invasive Bradford pear trees that harm lawns and native trees. Homeowner Todd Gee had his tree removed after quick approval and residents must get a removal quote and fill out a form within two months — the county also runs a trade-in program for native trees — to help improve local yards.  WTHR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • INDOT announced that overnight lane and ramp closures will begin Monday, April 14 on I-465 at Pendleton Pike—affecting lanes and ramps for three nights—while crews patch concrete pavement and bridge decks until mid-November; drivers are urged to slow down and use caution.  WTHR

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Friday night, the Orlando Magic beat the Indiana Pacers 129-115 as both teams rested their starters ahead of playoff games — Trevelin Queen scored a career-high 25 points and Anthony Black added 21 points, six rebounds and seven assists. The loss locked the Pacers into the No. 4 seed and set up a first-round rematch with the Milwaukee Bucks.  WTHR
