- ➤ Hamilton Heights Superintendent Dr. Derek Arrowood announced that with fewer than 30 instructional days left, Whitney Gray and Mitch Street will take on their roles as high school principal and assistant principal with a combined 33 years of experience after the loss of Jarrod Mason. He also honored key staff — bus drivers who will be celebrated on April 22 and administrative professionals on April 23 — and noted that HHMS is one of 190 schools nationwide to earn the ASCA’s RAMP designation. - ➤ A federal court judge denied the ACLU's request to reinstate the legal status of seven international students whose visas were revoked by DHS without explanation. Six Chinese students from Purdue and U of I Indianapolis and one Nigerian student from Notre Dame face potential deportation, and two are set to graduate in May—prompting the ACLU to claim that the students' due process rights were violated. - ➤ Indiana lawmakers received an April 16 briefing that warned slow growth, high tariffs and past policy changes could drop state revenue nearly $2.4 billion through 2027 and raise unemployment to about 5% with a modest recession possibly peaking in 2026 — income and sales tax shortfalls add to the uncertainty. Gov. Mike Braun said he will work with the General Assembly to craft a balanced biennial budget that protects critical public safety and education services. WTHR
- ➤ The Fishers Police Department launched a state-of-the-art forensics lab equipped with a digital unwrapper and vacuum metal deposition technology to process DNA evidence faster—local leaders said the new lab will boost cooperation across Hamilton County and help reduce violent crime. WRTV
- ➤ The City of Carmel is considering a proposal to create Veterans Park on a 4.4-acre parcel east of Old Meridian Street and north of VFW Post (10003) after plans for a mixed-use development fell through.
