- ➤ Feeding Team, working with Gleaners food bank, will launch two monthly mobile food pick-ups + a drive-through food pick-up on select Thursdays in June to help fill food gaps after Indiana opts out of SUN Bucks. - ➤ The Humane Society for Hamilton County will host an emergency adoption event from noon to 5 p.m. on May 17 at 10501 Hague Rd. in Fishers — the $10 adoption fee covers essential veterinary services for adult dogs and cats, and shelter staff hope to prevent animal overcrowding by finding homes for these pets. - ➤ In April 2025, Indiana enacted Senate Enrolled Act 1 that reformed the property tax system and now threatens funding for the Carmel Clay Public Library and Carmel Clay Schools. Library Director Bob Swanay and Superintendent Dr. Michael Beresford said the new law complicates long-term planning and may reduce library revenue by half if the county does not levy local taxes—public officials are reviewing next steps. - ➤ INDOT held a public meeting Tuesday to gather input on the Level Up 31 project near the interchange with Carmel where over 100,000 vehicles travel daily—planners expect traffic to increase to 150,000 over the next 20 years and crews will boost ramp capacity, with construction set to begin later this year and public comments accepted through May 27.
