CULTURE NEWS

  • The Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel hosts The Prism Project, a summer camp for children and young adults with disabilities now in its third year. The program, led by Carmel High School alumna Kelly Fischer, filled quickly this season—highlighting its growing impact on the community.  Carmel Monthly
  • Riley Tejcek, a 2015 Carmel High School graduate and current Marine captain, released her book 'If You Can Dream It, Be It' in March to help children (ages 4 to 8) see that there are no limits to their dreams. She said the book shows kids they can break barriers as she trains with Team USA for the Olympic bobsled team while serving as a Marine.  Current

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Hamilton County's annual Peony Festival is drawing thousands of visitors to Noblesville this weekend—boosting local businesses and the tourism industry. Officials noted that in 2023, visitor spending reached about $1 billion and said a new strategic plan will be developed to further enhance local events.  WRTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Carmel will launch its Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area on May 23 so people can buy and drink alcohol as they walk around near Main Street, Range Line Road, Carmel Drive and the Monon Greenway — the area will be open Monday through Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.  Current
  • The Carmel Street Department released its 2025 paving list—more than 50 lane miles of roadway are set to be upgraded this spring and summer—using laser technology to prioritize repairs; each project will begin with concrete and curb fixes and then continue with milling and repaving for three to five days with lane restrictions.  The Hamilton County Reporter
  • Carmel will activate its new Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area on Memorial Day weekend with an official launch on Friday, May 23 — allowing local businesses to serve alcoholic beverages outdoors. The area spans from just north of Main Street to Carmel Drive and from west of the Monon Greenway to just east of Range Line Road — linking key community spaces.  The Hamilton County Reporter

SPORTS NEWS

  • The WNBA season began Friday with Golden State’s first game and today Indiana will face Chicago with stars such as A’ja Wilson and new talents like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese. Indiana Fever made major moves by adding veteran players and re-signing Kelsey Mitchell — and they are counted among the favorites as several teams brought in marquee names this offseason.  WTHR
  • At Wednesday’s Hamilton County Unified track meet, teams from Noblesville, Carmel, Hamilton Heights, Fishers, Westfield and Hamilton Southeastern competed, with Noblesville scoring 118 points, Carmel 97, and Hamilton Heights 92. Detailed results from relays, dashes, jumps and shot put events were recorded—showing each school’s performance—at the meet.  The Hamilton County Reporter
