GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • INDOT's Level Up 31 project enters phase three today after weather delays, causing closures from I-465 to northbound U.S. 31 and an early fender bender in the construction zone. Governor Braun said the gas tax suspension could extend next month (saving about 59 cents per gallon for drivers).  WTHR

HEALTH NEWS

  • Preliminary state data shows Indiana's infant mortality rate stayed at a record low of 6.3 per 1,000 live births in 2025, with 500 deaths versus 509 in 2024. The department continues maternal and infant health work through breastfeeding programs and safe sleep education (according to officials).  WTHR

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Stella House Books and Cafe founders plan to demolish a former downtown Carmel home at 31 S. Range Line Rd. to build a 6,200-sqft bookstore and cafe with four parking spaces — final planning is set for a committee vote at 6 p.m. June 2 at City Hall.  Current
