- ➤ Carmel High School biomedical teacher Craig Harper was named the 2025 Carmel Clay Schools Stephen A. Backer Teacher of the Year at the May 19 school board meeting — his calm and conversational teaching style was praised by students and coworkers. As a district winner, he is a nominee for Indiana Teacher of the Year — with the final decision coming later this year. Current

- ➤ City officials broke ground for Ardalan Plaza on May 21, starting a $19 million mixed-use project on the 300 block of W. Main Street that will serve as a gateway to the Arts & Design District. The three-story building, inspired by an Italian villa, will have retail and gallery space on the first floor, five luxury condos on the second and a private residence on the third with construction to be complete in 2026. - ➤ Hamilton Heights beat Yorktown 4-3 on Thursday at Yorktown to reach the Sectional 24 championship game. Josh Newton hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning and Nick Hulen pitched a complete game with nine strikeouts—leaving the Huskies, now 10–18, set to face Delta on Monday at noon. - ➤ Guerin Catholic beat Lebanon 13-0 in five innings at Brebeuf Jesuit on Thursday as pitchers combined for a no-hitter and key hits brought runs in the first, third, and fifth innings—pushing them into the Sectional 25 semifinals. - ➤ The Noblesville boys track and field team won the Lafayette Jefferson regional on Thursday by scoring 84 points with four wins and nine state qualifiers, earning their first trophy since 2005. They now prepare for the IHSAA state meet next Friday at North Central. The Hamilton County Reporter
- ➤ Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic School’s girls lacrosse teams won state titles in the 10U, 12U, and 14U divisions on May 17 in Fishers while the 10U boys also claimed a title. - ➤ Aaronson Mansberger, a Carmel High School graduate, earned major gymnastics honors including being named Big Ten Freshman of the Week three times and Michigan’s Rookie of the Year on the University of Michigan men’s team.
