CRIME NEWS

  • Trey Williams, 18, was charged with reckless homicide and two misdemeanors in connection with the March 1 death of HSE football star Mason Alexander—his bond was set at $50,000 and he was banned from driving while on bond.  The Hamilton County Reporter

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Carey Grove Park in Carmel will soon have a new self-guided trail called Jerry’s Native Tree Walk — a tribute to longtime educator and naturalist Jerry Kozlansky who helped shape outdoor learning. Carmel Clay Parks Recreation approved the naming in May and will hold a dedication ceremony this summer — a move that will let visitors engage with native tree species and his legacy.  Current

  • On June 4, WTHR meteorologist Chuck Lofton was honored by pro sports teams and Gov. Braun with commemorative jerseys—each featuring his name and number 13—as he prepares for his retirement after 40 years of service. His final forecast will air tomorrow, June 6.  WTHR
  • Hamilton County Community Development Program Manager Michelle Westermeier updated the county commissioners on three CDBG-funded projects, including an infrastructure project in Carmel and two housing projects in Carmel and Noblesville. Construction on ADA-accessible ramps and new sidewalks in Carmel’s Newark neighborhood will begin this month—while the nonprofit HAND prepares to start Home Place Duets and continues work on the Townhomes at Stoney Creek.  Current
