COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Today at Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, the second annual Abs Angels Legacy Golf Outing honored the late Abigail Cox—a Hamilton Southeastern graduate and Purdue student—and raised over $25,000 to fund a $20,000 Purdue scholarship and other causes she supported. Kathy Cox said local teams with ties to Abigail joined the event and praised Purgatory Golf Club's role in making the day a success.  The Hamilton County Reporter
  • Carmel will launch Americana on Main with themed summer events from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evenings, starting June 11 until July 2 in the Arts & Design District. The event will feature patriotic decorations, entertainment, and food offerings from local businesses—including BuffaLouie’s and the Carmel Clay History Museum—to give residents a chance to enjoy fresh traditions.  Current
  • Hamilton County Leadership Academy will hold its annual Leadership Summit on June 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Embassy Suites Conference Center in Noblesville — the event will feature a panel of local leaders discussing the economic and community impact of sports and will honor Karen Radcliff and Sonny Beck.  The Hamilton County Reporter

  • Carmel shop owner Cynthia Compton was elected board president of the American Booksellers Association—her two-year term began last month. She said she will work to stabilize and grow the group as independent bookstores continue expanding with 81 new shops this year.  Current

  • Women Veterans Day will be observed on June 12 at the Clay Township Military Library and Museum in Carmel—local women veterans will connect with peers and share their stories to honor their service.  The Hamilton County Reporter

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita warned Hoosiers today about fraudulent emails and text messages posing as final notices from the DMV that falsely threaten actions such as suspending registration and driving privileges — residents should ignore such messages and report any suspicious contacts — to protect their personal and financial information.  The Hamilton County Reporter
  • The City of Carmel has set a new traffic pattern for the Summer Family Concert Series at the Gazebo at Civic Square that runs Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. until Sept. 10—traffic between Range Line Road and 3rd Avenue SW will use Gradle Drive only while Veterans Way is closed and the south side of the fountain is off limits to vehicles with a designated drop-off and bike parking available.  The Hamilton County Reporter

HEALTH NEWS

  • Hamilton County Parks and Recreation and the Hamilton County Health Department installed AEDs in climate-controlled access boxes at seven parks, including Cool Creek Park, Potter’s Bridge Park, and Prather Park—making life-saving equipment easily available. The health department spent over $55,000 on the project—devices provide audio instructions so visitors can use them without special training.  Current

  • At the IHSAA boys track and field state finals on Friday at North Central, Hamilton County runners earned multiple medals as Fishers’ Sam Quagliaroli finished second in the 3200 run and Carmel’s Isaac Nelson placed fourth in the 100 dash—five new state records were set during the meet.
