- ➤ Hotel Carmichael at Carmel City Center is set to expand into the adjacent Wren building this fall, adding 60 new guest rooms, a 2,052-square-foot ballroom, a boardroom, and an expanded lounge—improving its capacity for corporate events and weddings. Pedcor Companies will cover all costs with no new taxpayer funding while the hotel is expected to generate an extra $1.3 million annually by 2029. Current

- ➤ Plainfield man Timothy Hughes, who served prison time after a 2015 fatal drunk driving crash, is charged with two new OWI cases after being pulled over in Henry County on June 16 with a BAC of .288 and in Hamilton County on May 1 with a BAC of .254—his court hearing in Henry County is set for June 26. - ➤ The Indiana State Fair has announced the final lineup for the Hoosier Lottery Free Stage that will feature DJs, movie stars and tribute bands as part of its Soundtrack of Summer series. - ➤ On June 4 the Hamilton County Council approved $213,606 to launch Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program, with funds held by the Hamilton County Community Foundation to support initial funding through 2027. Library director Sheryl Sollars proposed the idea on March 5 and Councilmember Ken Alexander said the investment sets a foundation for youth success — the libraries will announce the launch date before year’s end — as Hamilton County becomes the last in Indiana to join the program. - ➤ Governor Mike Braun signed 10 bills on Wednesday that aim to lower health care costs for Hoosians—bills that will boost price transparency and competition in hospitals, Medicaid, pharmacy benefit management, and physician agreements.
