- ➤ The City of Carmel announced an expansion of Hotel Carmichael through a public-private partnership with Pedcor Companies that uses no new taxpayer funding. The project will expand the hotel’s capacity—adding 60 guest rooms, a 913-square-foot boardroom, and a 2,052-square-foot ballroom on four floors, with work set to finish in fall 2026. - ➤ The Carmel City Council met on June 16 to choose Councilor Matthew Snyder for the Carmel Christkindlmarkt board, raise fines for cars that block pedestrian paths, and set a plan to rezone 22 acres at Michigan Road and 99th Street into a 360-unit apartment community. Fines are now $200 for a first offense, $250 for a second, and $2,500 for later offenses—voting on the rezoning is expected soon and further changes to nonprofit board governance are planned for 2026. - ➤ The sixth annual IBCA/IHSAA boys’ Team Showcase in memory of Charlie Hughes begins today and will run through Sunday with games at Carmel High School, Westfield High School, Westfield Middle School, and Alletto Sport Center where nine Hamilton County high schools are competing. - ➤ Westfield led the IHSAA boys golf state finals at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel on Tuesday with a team score of 288 that built a six-stroke advantage over Zionsville—both Will Harvey and Jake Cesare scored three under par 69.
