  • The sixth annual Mudsock Fest will be held at Mystic Waters Campground in Pendleton from July 25-26 — the fundraiser will benefit Children’s TherAplay at 9919 Towne Road in Carmel and feature live music starting at 7 p.m., a silent disco beginning at 11:30 p.m. with a grilled cheese giveaway, and contests. Additional activities include swimming, a paddle boarding race, a fishing contest, auctions, and a silent raffle — with benefits also reaching the Animal Protection League in Anderson and Monroe Central High School.  Current

  • Teacher Aja Huerkamp opened Yours For The Making at 13620 N. Meridian St. in Carmel to offer DIY arts and crafts workshops and group classes—she runs the studio with her husband and children and will host an open house from noon to 4 p.m. on July 19.  Current

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Courtney Martin Sechler, a Carmel resident and president of South College Indianapolis, survived rare kidney cancer and received a life-saving transplant from her father in 1994—her kidney has now lasted over 30 years as she prepares to celebrate its anniversary this summer while leading the college's new healthcare training programs. She uses her journey to inspire future healthcare professionals and support local and national advocacy efforts.  Current

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • INDOT is repaving lanes on U.S. 31 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. starting Monday near 96th Street to help ease congestion from a population surge that has added nearly 100,000 people since 2010 and affected 27,000 daily drivers. INDOT is also finishing I-69 construction by the end of the year and will start work on the I-465, US 31 interchange this fall to build for future traffic needs.  WRTV
