EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ In spring 2025, Carmel High School sophomores Ellie Wang and Anika Veerapaneni founded the Indiana Student Debate League to offer free debate workshops and mini tournaments for middle and high school students statewide. Their workshop on July 11 at Carmel Clay Public Library taught key debate skills, and their August 1 event—featuring National Speech & Debate Association champion Trisha Tewari—helped students build their confidence in effective speaking. - ➤ Indy Badminton Club opened its dedicated facility in May at 9801 Mayflower Park Dr (in Carmel), offering eight badminton courts and a small turf and free-weight area for local players. Club member Mike Zhou said the new space (which operates from 9 a.m. to about 10 to 11:30 p.m.) will host an Open Tournament in October and may later hold USA Badminton sanctioned and state games events.
