Good morning, Carmel.

Carmel Fire Department has equipped all five frontline ambulances with the LUCAS device (an automated chest compression machine) to deliver consistent compressions during emergencies.

EMS chief Andrew Young and Public Information Officer Tim Griffin said the device eases challenges during patient transport and helps free up firefighters for other lifesaving tasks.

After facing health challenges at Texas and limited training, Carmel High School alumnus Aaron Shackell joined Indiana University's men's and women's swimming teams to train with his siblings and trusted coach Chris Plumb—he aims to improve his performance and help the team compete for an NCAA Championship.
