- ➤ Hamilton County met the state disaster relief threshold for costs from the April 2 tornado that touched down in Carmel—though it did not meet the federal threshold—and city officials now await a decision that could provide up to 50 percent reimbursement for the $917,443 damage. Carmel was the only city in the county to have a confirmed tornado touchdown by the National Weather Service. Current
