Good morning, Carmel.
🎓 Education
Local school leaders in Carmel raised concerns that Indiana’s voucher program (which cost about $500 million in 2024-25) is reducing funds for public schools.
They stressed the need for a system that supports school choice while ensuring enough money for traditional schools.
🏛️ Government
Carmel officials say the flooded Martin Marietta quarry, which received billions of gallons from the White River, will be drained back into the river over at least 90 days (temporary dams were built by the Indiana National Guard).
The draining process will include water testing to ensure no pollutants affect local construction and work sites.
