- ➤ The 58th Penrod Arts Fair will take place on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Newfields and feature over 350 artist booths, live stages, a children’s area, and a cashless system — a sign of its long-standing support for central Indiana arts. A special Evening with Penrod preview is scheduled for Sept. 5 and will offer art purchases, local food, and beverages for those 21 and older — providing an early chance to enjoy the event. WTHR
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Carmel Clay Schools bus drivers said a 2% pay raise was not properly discussed and did not treat them fairly— the school board delayed the proposal until Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. to discuss the issue further. Current
- ➤ At the Aug. 25 Carmel Clay School Board meeting, several Mohawk Trails Elementary parents said the school is facing issues with its parking lot, worn furniture, carpet, rusty playground equipment and open library that raises safety concerns. The board noted that while other schools will receive $32.5 million in updates, renovations for Mohawk Trails are not planned until 2029—leaving immediate actions pending. Current

- ➤ First responders conducted a two-hour hazardous materials drill at Regal Village Park Theater in Westfield on August 27 to simulate a chlorine truck collision with a car and test the coordination of police, fire and health agencies from Westfield, Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, Zionsville and Hamilton County. The exercise—led by the Hamilton County Local Emergency Planning Committee—is intended to reveal strengths and areas for improvement in emergency response. Current
