BUSINESS NEWS

  • Andrew and Stephanie Flittner moved their Medicare plan guidance business to a new Carmel office at 3309 E. 146th St.—the renovated location cost $1.2 million and held its grand opening on Aug.22. Their firm, the largest independent Medicare broker in Indiana, now helps local residents choose the best plan as Medicare open enrollment begins Oct.15.  Current

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hamilton County’s Drug Court program offers treatment instead of jail for repeat DUI offenders by requiring weekly court appearances, recovery coaching, and outpatient therapy (the program is offered on a case-by-case basis). It aims to help participants change behavior and avoid future offenses.  WRTV
  • Mayor Sue Finkam presented Carmel’s 2026 budget on Monday, showing nearly $10 million less in property tax revenue due to state reforms while funding public safety, roads, trails, parks, and the arts without raising local taxes. The City Council plans to cut costs by combining and renegotiating contracts — while future local income tax increases remain uncertain.  WTHR
