- ➤ Project Civility is promoting respectful dialogue by placing 'Be Civil' signs around Carmel as neighbors and lawmakers prepare for a national summit later this month—Carmel City Council member Jeff Worrell started the effort after his 2023 re-election campaign revealed increasing political hostility and former Governor Mitch Daniels is set to speak. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Carmel High School athletics will rejoin the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference in the 2026-27 academic year along with Center Grove, both of which were voted out in 2021. The MIC announced the decision on Sept 11—after both schools had formally requested to return during the 2024-25 school year. Current
- ➤ Superintendent Thomas Oestreich said at the Sept. 8 board meeting that walls will be added to the Mohawk Trails Elementary School Library to reduce noise and create a more focused space for students — he noted that planning is in its early stages and an updated timeline will be shared soon. He also said that playground improvements are underway with replacement parts ordered and repairs set to begin in six to eight weeks after safety concerns were raised. Current

- ➤ Molly Childs is trying to get a COVID vaccine for her daughter Felicity, who has serious health issues, and she is waiting for CDC guidelines scheduled to update next week—up to now, she has not found a pharmacy that stocks the new shot. She plans to secure the vaccine for Felicity as soon as clear recommendations allow its use for immunocompromised children. WTHR
