- ➤ The Carmel International Arts Festival in the Carmel Arts and Design District will feature international dance performances on Sept 27 and Sept 28 — including groups from India, Greece, China and Japan as well as a first-time Lithuanian troupe from Chicago and new acts like Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre. Main Street will be named Rosemary Waters Way with a dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. on Sept 27 to honor the late founder. Current
- ➤ Carmel High School senior Megan Xia earned honors when her oil and pastel painting was selected for display at the U.S. Capitol—she received the Congressional Art Award and multiple prizes including a National Visual Art Award and state fair honors. Xia began painting five years ago and plans to study art and philosophy in college while using her work to connect with the community. Current

- ➤ A single no vote ended Hamilton County's plan to let voters use any polling place as Ray Adler cast his decisive no on September 18—keeping the use of 235 polling locations for now. Supporters said the plan would add ease while critics warned it could make voting harder for elderly and rural residents, and Adler said he may revisit the idea after seeing how other counties fare. - ➤ Indiana-based Cook Medical and Siemens Healthineers have partnered to develop a new, radiation-free MRI tool called iMRI that gives doctors real-time images during minimally invasive treatments — this system will help speed up care and may lead to safer procedures in the future. WTHR
- ➤ Carmel doctor Dr. Keyur P. Vora led a 16-month study—analyzing data from over 6,100 patients across seven IU Health hospitals—that discovered a troponin blood test can quickly detect internal bleeding after a STEMI heart attack. His findings were published on Aug. 26 in the New England Journal of Medicine and presented on Aug. 31 at the European Society of Cardiology congress in Madrid, and they may change heart care after stent procedures. - ➤ Matt Petgrave, a hockey player whose skate — which fatally cut Adam Johnson’s neck in 2023 — led to a manslaughter arrest before he was cleared in April, signed a contract to play for the Indy Fuel for the upcoming season. WTHR
- ➤ The Indiana Fever reached the semifinals for the first time in 10 years after a strong fourth-quarter comeback that beat the Atlanta Dream. Tickets for Game 3, which returns the series home, went on sale on Sept. 19 and the team will now face the Las Vegas Aces—featuring star A'ja Wilson. WTHR
- ➤ The Associated Press released the Week 5 high school football poll on Tuesday, September 16 showing Carmel earned 164 points and ranked fourth in Class 6A with a 3 to 1 record—Brownsburg led the poll with 252 points. WTHR
