COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Carmel’s Oktoberfest 2025 will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Oct. 3 at Carmel City Center, with festivities held on the plaza level along Veterans Way and Hanover Court. For the first time the festival will use a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area—alcohol can only be served in a designated cup within approved boundaries.  Current

BUSINESS NEWS

  • VERVE opened a luxury women's clothing store on Veterans Way at Carmel City Center in August; owner Kristie Smith said the store features high-end construction with curated brands and a flexible event space—combining a New York Soho style with local charm.  Current

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • To trim the city budget amid the state’s new property tax law, top Carmel officials including the mayor, city clerk, and police and fire chiefs will not get a 3% cost-of-living adjustment in 2026—while the city council is set to receive a COLA bump of about $750 each, pending a separate ordinance.  Current
  • The Mayor’s Advisory Commission on Senior Living will host Community Engagement Day for Seniors at Carmel Clay Library on Oct. 10 and is running a survey to learn about the needs of Carmel residents aged 65 and older. More than 1,000 seniors have been sent letters about the survey and the commission is partnering with IU School of Medicine—ensuring the data will be accurate for future discussions.  Current
  • The Carmel Fire Department and its Mobile Integrated Health Program launched an online Community Resources hub that connects residents to services through 11 subpages covering community, food, health care, legal assistance, and more. Bruce Frost, the Mobile Integrated Health officer, created the site after feedback showed only 30 percent of local seniors were aware of available resources—a step that may help reduce unnecessary emergency calls.  Current

SPORTS NEWS

  • MVP finalist Kelsey Mitchell joined Unrivaled—a winter basketball league with 1x1 and 3x3 games played in Miami—as she continues to help the Indiana Fever in the ongoing WNBA playoffs. She set a new career high in points per game with the Fever and is building on her record as the longest tenured player while seeking extra income in the offseason.  WTHR
  • The second-ranked Bishop Chatard Trojans beat Guerin Catholic 56—14 Friday night in Noblesville—running back Danny Adams scored four rushing touchdowns to lift the Trojans to a 5—1 record and top the Circle City Conference standings.  WTHR
  • Indiana high school football Week 6 games on Sept. 26th saw schools across the state post scores as Carmel beat Indianapolis North Central 63—14. Operation Football featured many decisive wins statewide—teams like Adams Central and Bloomington South shone in their matches.  WTHR
