  • Julie and Justin Hawes own Hawesome Farm—a 6-acre property at 4410 W. 141st St.—where they live, work, and host day camps to teach local children about farming and the source of their food while raising chickens, ducks, and lambs.  Current

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Amazon announced that it will open a 1-million-square-foot fulfillment center in Greenfield — the project will create hundreds of jobs in Hancock County and use advanced technology to process packages. The facility will offer full- and part-time jobs with benefits like health care coverage and a 401(k) match.  WTHR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Carmel Mayor Sue Finkam emailed the city council on Sept. 24 alleging that two councilors harassed city employees and urged harassment prevention training—council members later dismissed the claim as overblown, questioning her motives. They said the tension reflects a long-lasting strain in their working relationship.  Current
  • Gov. Mike Braun is considering calling a special session to redraw congressional maps if House Speaker Todd Huston and Senate President Rod Bray back his redistricting plan. Lawmakers will have a limit of 30 business days or 40 calendar days—whichever is shorter—to finish the maps, and another session may be scheduled if needed.  WTHR

  • The Associated Press released its Week 7 high school football poll covering games through Tuesday, September 30, with rankings showing Brownsburg (9 votes) leading Class 6A, New Palestine (11 votes) topping Class 5A, Indianapolis Bishop Chatard (7 votes) heading Class 4A, Evansville Reitz Memorial (8 votes) leading Class 3A, Adams Central (10 votes) topping Class 2A, and Springs Valley (4 votes) leading Class 1A.  WTHR
  • Indianapolis Colts receiver Adonai Mitchell took responsibility for a fumble that erased his touchdown in Sunday's 27-20 loss to the Rams, and coach Shane Steichen said Mitchell must work harder in practice + avoid extra penalties to regain trust.  WTHR
