  • The Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis said new home permits in central Indiana rose 3 percent in August with 7,048 permits issued across nine counties. Noblesville had 87 permits while Westfield led with 860 suburban permits since January, and BAGI officials said builders are handling higher costs and interest rate rises—factors that support steady growth—despite economic pressures.  Current

  • Carmel resident Mark Urtel, Chair of IU Indy's Department of Kinesiology, launched a redesigned applied fitness and sports performance degree that better meets industry trends. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Oct. 6, the Carmel City Council introduced the proposed 2026 budget that maintains a flat $144 million plan — capping property taxes at 77.83 cents per $100, raising most city employee wages by 3 percent, and cutting 11 positions. The council also approved $15,000 from unused 2025 funds for summer gazebo concerts and listened to resident concerns about PrimeLife Enrichment funding, with a final vote scheduled for Oct. 20.  Current

  • A free sunscreen dispenser was installed in Midtown near the splash pad along the Monon Greenway—just south of Elm Street between Penn and Beech Candle Co. and Merchants Bank to help visitors protect their skin. Local dermatologists partnered with Carmel Clay Parks and Recreation and plan to add more dispensers at other parks.  Current
