- ➤ At the Carmel High School Natatorium on Oct. 12, American swimmer Gretchen Walsh set a World Cup record in the 100 meter butterfly with a time of 53.69 seconds and earned 59.1 points for the women’s gold medal while Hungarian swimmer Hubert Kòs won the men's gold medal after sweeping the backstroke events. Walsh said she plans to improve her scores in upcoming legs from Oct. 17 to Oct. 19 in Westmont and from Oct. 23 to Oct. 25 in Toronto—she aims to get better at each stop. Current
