- ➤ Local officials are set to host a Sensory Friendly Trick-or-Treat Trail at River Heritage Park on Oct 25 from 1 to 3 p.m.—designed for families with sensory needs. Carmel 8th grader Dyer Thompson was named a Caroline D. Bradley Scholar, former EPA Deputy Janet McCabe will speak on environmental policy at the Sustainable Living Seminar on Oct 16 at the Carmel Clay Public Library, and a section of the Monon Greenway is closed for construction until Oct 31. - ➤ The Diwali Festival of Lights will move to Carter Green on Oct. 18 from 5 to 9 p.m. after a strong start in Midtown—organizers plan expanded kids areas, art displays, and a canned goods drive to support local food pantries at the free event. Current
- ➤ Fishers resident Mark Taylor, 70, released his first full album 'Tales from the Yellow Rose' inspired by his memories and a photo of an abandoned motel on old Route 66, Arizona+the 13-song concept record was produced by Will Turner, includes top jazz musicians from Indy, and the band plans to perform live soon. - ➤ On Oct. 21, Indiana McDonald's restaurants will donate 10% of app sales to support local high school athletes, with each chosen school receiving at least $250 — the fundraiser includes 184 schools as part of High School Sports Digital Fundraiser Day. WTHR
- ➤ A Fishers mother learned that Hamilton Southeastern Schools now require kindergarteners to use a digital iPad after an outdated handbook once allowed an opt-out, and she is rethinking enrollment options for her child. She plans to work with other parents by launching a Facebook group (Analog Kids) and hosting a free screening of the documentary Can’t Look Away – The Case Against Social Media at the Fishers Public Library on Oct. 25. - ➤ Gemi Ozdemir, founder of Ozwell Fitness in Carmel, has been named corporate chair for the Indy Breakthrough T1D Walk— the largest global event aimed at fighting Type 1 diabetes. He will lead efforts to raise $20,000 when the walk takes place on Oct. 26 at Dull’s Tree Farm and Pumpkin Patch in Thorntown. Current

- ➤ Associated Press released the Indiana high school football poll for Week 9 showing results from games through Oct. 14. In Class 6A, Brownsburg led with an 8-0 record and nine first-place votes while Carmel was ranked second with a 7-1 record—other classes showed top teams such as New Palestine and Indianapolis Bishop Chatard—showing good play across the state.
