- ➤ At its Oct 14 meeting, the Carmel Clay Schools Board of Trustees approved a teachers contract that gives a 2% pay increase and changes the evaluation system to rate teachers as meeting expectations or not, and the board also approved bond financing to fund facility projects at four schools. The bond plan uses up to $66M at a 5% interest rate to support renovations at Smoky Row, Cherry Tree, Carmel Middle and Carmel High, with the board set to reconvene on Oct 27. Current

- ➤ Carmel resident John Maley was named president of the Indiana State Bar Association on Oct. 10 in Indianapolis and will serve a one-year term. The 62-year-old lawyer—who has lived in Carmel since 2020 and works as a partner at Barnes & Thornburg LLP—said he plans to focus on membership, retention and recruitment during his term. Current

- ➤ Dr. Magdelana Lewandowska of Innovative Hematology ran 10 miles today as part of her marathon training to raise awareness and funds for the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation (she aims to raise $3,500).
