- ➤ Carmel native Leah Marone has written her debut self-help book Serial Fixer—Break Free from the Habit of Solving Other People's Problems using over 20 years of clinical experience as a licensed social worker. Her book will be published by Broadleaf Books on Nov 11 and she will return to Carmel for a book launch at MacArthur's Books in the Village of WestClay on Nov 5. Current
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Carmel High School has opened a new polytechnic wing that gives students hands-on experience in real workplace settings including automotive labs, construction courses, and engineering studios. The school will host an open house on November 2nd from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.—community members, parents, and potential employers can view the updated facilities. WRTV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ About 600,000 Hoosiers who rely on SNAP will not receive their benefits on November 1 because the shutdown left no contingency funds, and if the government does not reach an agreement before issuance begins on November 5, state officials plan to use state money to cover the shortfall—food banks are expected to see increased demand. Indiana will continue processing new SNAP applications during the shutdown while recipients can still use any unspent October funds. WTHR
