  • Carmel native Shaan Mishra had a two-episode run on Jeopardy! where he advanced as champion on Oct 24—winning $15,600—and finished second on Oct 27 to earn a total of $18,600. The 22-year-old trailed for most of both games before rallying in Final Jeopardy.  Current

  • Carmel celebrated Diwali at Carter Green on Oct. 23 after the festival was rescheduled from Oct. 18 due to a lightning storm. The event — organized by city councilor Anita Joshi — featured nearly a dozen food vendors, 15 live performances, cold spark fireworks, henna, and over 5,000 free diyas and ladoos for attendees.  Current

  • A study of the switch to permanent daylight saving time in Indiana shows that in winter, Indianapolis sunrises would occur after 9 a.m.—a change that would force many to start their day in darkness while evenings stay brighter. Lawmakers continue to debate the stalled Sunshine Protection Act, leaving the proposal unresolved.  WTHR

  • Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor was named AFC Offensive Player of the Month for October after he ran 66 times for 436 yards, scored nine touchdowns and caught 12 passes for 93 yards (averaging 6.6 yards per carry) as announced on October 30; he became the first player since 2013 to post 500 scrimmage yards and 10 touchdowns in a four-game span.  WTHR
