- ➤ Two best friends who met in the 1940s have exchanged the same birthday card every year for nearly 80 years; the card shows a cartoon dog with a red and black bow tie and a funny dinosaur message. Mary Kroger — who lives in Carmel — and her friend Pat DeReamer said they will keep the tradition going and recently applied to reclaim a Guinness World Record for the longest greetings card exchange. - ➤ Hamilton County officials are offering residents $400 to remove invasive Bradford pear trees that harm lawns and native trees. Homeowner Todd Gee had his tree removed after quick approval and residents must get a removal quote and fill out a form within two months — the county also runs a trade-in program for native trees — to help improve local yards. - ➤ INDOT announced that overnight lane and ramp closures will begin Monday, April 14 on I-465 at Pendleton Pike—affecting lanes and ramps for three nights—while crews patch concrete pavement and bridge decks until mid-November; drivers are urged to slow down and use caution. WTHR
