Here's your local news at a glance for Sunday, the 22nd of June.
Good morning, Carmel.
🏘️ Community
Retired Navy Lt. Cmdr.
Oscar Taylor is organizing his local VFW post's first military ball to thank the members who helped him after retiring from service, with the event scheduled for Sept. 13 at 502 Event Center. The formal dining experience will feature a D.J., master of ceremonies and photographer, while tickets are priced at $40 plus a $10,000 fundraising goal.
🏥 Health
As summer heats up, pavement in Indiana can become 30 to 60 degrees hotter than the air and can burn pets in just one minute on hot days.
Residents are advised to walk pets early in the morning or after sunset, stick to grassy areas, and test pavement temperature with the back of the hand (if it feels too hot for you, it is too hot for them).
🏈 Sports
Former Team Penske executive Kyle Moyer, fired after an Indy 500 scandal, has been hired by Arrow McLaren Racing as director of competition and strategist for driver Nolan Siegel.
He will join the team for a test session at Iowa Speedway this week and will officially start on June 30—an appointment based on his strong past with team principal Tony Kanaan.
