On Aug. 9, four teens attempted to rob a man at Gramercy apartments on Golfview Drive in Carmel and shot him—leaving him seriously injured and facing felony charges.

Hamilton County met the state disaster relief threshold for costs from the April 2 tornado that touched down in Carmel—though it did not meet the federal threshold—and city officials now await a decision that could provide up to 50 percent reimbursement for the $917,443 damage.

Carmel was the only city in the county to have a confirmed tornado touchdown by the National Weather Service.

Carmel High football coach Kevin Wright returned to lead the Greyhounds after a season of three to seven wins—he said the team will focus on basic fundamentals and special teams as they open at Fishers on Aug.22 and work to overcome injuries and tougher opponents.
